rear brake cable adjusting
Congratulations on the purchase of your COMMENCAL CLASH. Here we offer some help to help you adjust the placement of the rear brake cable.
ATTENTION: Misplacement can result in too much tension and in turn damage.
STEP 1
Prepare the necessary tools before you start :
- 2.5mm Allen key
- 5mm Allen key
- Torx key T25
STEP 2
After you’ve built your CLASH, deflate the shock of air, or remove the spring from the damper.
STEP 3
Gradually compress the suspension, controlling the tension of the hose between the chain stay and the caliper.
STEP 4
During full compression, if the hose is tight, it's necessary to adjust its position in order to have the correct length.
STEP 5
Loosen the chain stay hose passage using the 2.5mm Allen key.
STEP 6
Loosen the hose passage at the bottom of the down tube with the 2.5mm Allen key.
STEP 7
Pull the hose a few centimetres from the down tube towards the back of the bike.
STEP 8
Pull the hose a few centimetres from the chain stay towards the caliper.
STEP 9
Unscrew (1/4 turn) the screw that holds the hose connection to the caliper using the Torx T25 wrench.
STEP 10
Align the connection parallel to the seat stay.
STEP 11
Tighten the hose connection.
STEP 12
Compress the suspension again gradually, controlling the tension of the hose between the chain stay and the caliper.
During complete compression there must be a little bit of slack in the hose.
STEP 13
Tighten the hose passage through the chain stay.
STEP 14
Tighten the hose passage through the down tube.
STEP 15
If the hose touches the spokes in its curve, remove the brake caliper using the 5mm Allen key.
STEP 16
Rotate the caliper one full turn, clockwise, to change the curve of the hose.
STEP 17
Install the caliper and adjust the position so that the pads do not touch the disc.
STEP 18
Tighten the 2 screws with the 5mm Allen key.
STEP 19
Check one last time by compressing the suspension.
STEP 20
Re-inflate your air shock, or refit the spring.
Make sure to follow assembly and torque instructions, from the different brand parts.
Your CLASH is now ready for action, with the right placement of the rear brake cable.
