SHIMANO SM-RT86 discs no longer really require an introduction. They are very widely used in the MTB world. The braking strip has an aluminium layer sandwiched between two layers of stainless steel which allows better heat dissipation, which in turn, brings constant and powerful braking. In addition, the construction with an aluminium star supporting the braking strip means it’s stiffer but remains light.
