workshop note

The image of this model is not a photo but in fact a 3D representation. The studio photos with the specs listed below will be available very shortly.

Our 20-inch wheeled bikes are suitable for children who measure between 115cm and 135cm. At this height/age, your child begins to build some strength and endurance. They can cope with longer rides on more uneven terrain. The bravest may even give the bike park a go... Their bikes must therefore be up to it!

Within this age group, we offer three options, the main choices being whether to opt for suspension or not. All three bikes are equipped with a derailleur, disc brakes and real knobbly tyres like the adult's versions.

The RAMONES 20 has a rigid frame and fork. Beyond the intention of keeping the price of the bike down, the absence of suspension allows for better handling, less weight and easier maintenance. In addition, the stiffness is compensated by 2.6 tyres which can be slightly under-inflated to provide even more comfort and grip. In 2022, this platform has been fully reworked and features new extruded tubes, a rigid fork made from Aluminium, new wheels and a new cockpit, all designed for their smaller body shapes.

On the META HT 20 side, the frame is also stiff, but there's a telescopic fork with 100mm of travel. For 2022, this fork has been specifically developed by our engineers in collaboration with MANITOU. The main objective is to reduce friction as much as possible so that the travel is used to the max, even on small impacts and for the smallest riders. The comfort and grip are exceptional for a bike of this size.

Finally, the CLASH 20 is a benchmark for 20-inch full suspension bikes on the market today. In 2022, there are some key changes - new geometry, new looks... The kinematics are also different. Much more than a CLASH with a small frame, the kinematics are exclusively designed for this bike. That means the suspension provides more comfort and grip, regardless of the obstacle and despite its light weight. The 120mm MANITOU fork, RockShox shock and disc brakes should mean that the young ones can get started on technical downhill slopes without fear!

Size guide

What Size to Choose?

According to your riding style, choose a bike with a shorter Reach for more responsive and intuitive handling, or one with a longer Reach for more stability and confidence at high speeds. On a longer model, the front wheel is positioned farther forward, giving an enhanced feeling of security but at the expense of maneuverability and requiring more effort to move the bike.

Between Two Sizes?

When you find yourself between two sizes, the ideal solution is to test ride both to see which fits you best. Unfortunately, this isn't always possible. At minimum, check the Reach and Stack measurements of your current bike to compare them with those of the model you're considering. This will give you a better idea of which size to choose and how the position will feel once on the bike. You can also follow the advice below.

Morphology

Body proportions vary from person to person, even at identical heights. If you have long legs and a shorter-than-average torso, you might consider choosing a bike with a shorter Reach than the recommended size. Conversely, if you have long arms and a more developed upper body, the larger size might be better suited to your morphology. Ideally, you should try before you choose.

Suspension settings

Our kinematics are the result of advanced engineering for optimal working harmony of front and rear suspension with our bikes.

This guide is aimed to help understand exactly how things work and set everything up so that your COMMENCAL functions in the best way.
